But can you really make a tasty cake in just 5 minutes? Yes! I can confirm that you absolutely can and below I’ve detailed how to make a healthy mug cake and 3 delicious recipes you NEED to try!
How to make a mug cake
So the instructions are generally the same for most recipes I’ve found, and the ingredients are pretty similar to a standard cake. You will need the basic ingredients including baking powder, milk, baking power and butter. With additional ingredients such as cocoa power, chocolate chips, vanilla ect for flavour. Oh and a microwavable mug of course.

Ingredients:
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 egg
- 3 tbsp of almond flour
- 1 tbsp of chocolate chips (dark, milk or even white)
Method:
Simply mix your four ingredients together in a bowl, add them to your greesed mug and whack it on hugh in the microwave for adound 90 seconds. If you’re worried about it overflowing, cook in 30 second intervals.
Keto chocolate fudge brownie in a mug:
Low carb chocolate fudge brownie, what more could your want? This recipe has more ingredients than most but the end result is SO worth it.
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp of melted butter
- 1 tbsp of cocoa powder
- 1 Medium size egg
- 1 tbsp of sweetener
- 1/4 cup of almond flour
- 1/2 tsp of baking powder
- 1 tsp of chocolate chips of your choice
Method:
Combine all of your ingredients as listed above, mix well until completely smooth and place into your microwaveable mug. On a hugh heat, cook for 2 minutes ensuring to check carefully throughout.
100 calorie mug cake
For a low calorie mug cake, opt for healthy alternatives such as sweetener and be sure to check the sugar content on your ingredients.
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp of flour – this can be any all purpose, gluten free, basically any type of flour in fine.
- 1.5 tbsp of zero / low calorie sweater (this is were the calories usually add up)
- 1/4 tsp of baking powder
- 2 tsp of cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp of milk – any type is fine but aim for lower cal
- 1 tsp of coconut oil
- 1 drop of Vanilla extract
Method:
Mix all of your ingredients and add to your mug, place in the microwave for around 30 minutes (no longer). Leave to cool for about 3 minutes. Add low calorie spreads, sugar free syrup or toppings and enjoy!
